I bring a critical perspective to arts evaluation that considers the complex ways in which individuals and communities of young people engage with the arts. I have an interest in the connections between arts and cultural participation, belonging and mobility, and how young people navigate the diverse agendas that are imposed on them through official and unofficial spaces of training and governance. My expertise in cultural citizenship and migrant youth research will support the development of micro-credentials related to cultural diversity.

The arts can offer young people a generative space that exists outside formal spaces of learning and civic and vocational training that have historically privileged particular social and cultural groups. The arts can enable diverse young people to develop a range of critical and creative capacities that are not always valued in other institutional spaces, but which we increasingly recognize as having wide relevance outside of the arts.
